Hawkeye,

I will try to send out a message to all other participants tomorrow to see if anyone wants to caravan together from certain areas. Due to the large amount of entrants please be sure to get to Thunderhill as early as possible. Gates open at 7:00AM and everyone need to be registered and ready, cars empty, helmets, etc by 8:00AM. I will be sending a "last minute" message to all participants.

Looks like GREAT/PERFECT weather!!!!!

I've got a nasty cold Norm, but I'm still going to try and make it up to Colusa on Sunday if I get feeling any better. I want to chat about our summer trip...

Here is a good in-car video travelling around Thunderhill. It shows the RPM, speed, shifting pint, etc. Our Minis may not be travelling at these speeds but it does give you a great deal of information and "feel" for the track,

Here is the response from the Colusa Casino:

Norm, You will be able to check your bags at the hotel when you arrive but they can’t guarantee the room until 3pm… I will also have an ice chest full of drinks for everyone as they arrive.

That is probably one of the best on-track video's I've seen. Gives you a real sense of what the track has to offer, however it really doesn't due justice to the elevation changes and off camber turns....ya just have to get out there and DO IT.... Should be an outstanding day Excellent weather, excellent track and a whole lota MINI's.

Thank You Norm and your team for all your hard work in putting this event together..... See Ya on Sunday for a little adult beverages, hangin' with friends and swapping stories.

This is kinda late, but we are headed out of Nevada County (Grass Valley) around 7:30 am and headed towards Sac. Then 5 north to Colusa. That should get us to the car show in plenty of time to clean up, etc... If anyone is interested in a caravan, or possibly hooking up with others along the way. I'm sure we will run across several MINIS making the trek. This is gonna be the most fun event yet!

One of the BEST weekends ever. This was one of our first outings with the club, and what a way to start! The car show was fun, and we made so many new friends and acquaintances there. Getting out on the track was the ultimate driving experience! Thunderhill is an awesome track, with first class people. The coaches were so helpful at teaching us both how to really drive. My first few laps probably looked like Mr. Magoo was driving! By the last few sessions, he had me hard on the throttle, diving at apexes, and drifting out to the aprons with the pedal to the metal! Of course, we had to get some souvenir photos for bragging rights. What a great day and great people, each and every one! Thank all of you for the fun, friendship, and all that hard work in putting together an event that has become one of the biggest thrills Corinne and I have ever experienced!!!

Hi Rich, I don't know if we got a chance to meet... A whole lot of sfuff going on.. Yes!!! THAT WAS GREAT...I will never forget it.. I only got in " trouble" once.. By the end of my day on track I think I broke the record for the slowest lap....Everybody was passing me.....I was plum tuckered out...I think I saw some guy on a bicycle flashing his light at me wanting to pass...SHEESH...Anyway I just want to say to Norm, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.....For all your hard work putting this together

Well I am finally getting caught up and want to thank everyone that came out yesterday & over the weekend. We had great weather, I think into the 70's on Monday. We had at least 75 entrants for MINI Thunder and 50 for the car show. No crashes on track Hope everyone had a good time and learned something. Big thanks to Thunderhill Raceway Park, SCCA, NIELLO MINI, Colusa Casino, Defenders of Speed, Northbay Bavarian, Mini Mania, Miniology, Big O Tires, MC2 Magazine, Gotbluemilk.com photography, and A BIG Special Thanks to Eric & Lisa Diamond who made this all happen so smoothly. The staff at Thunderhill! The volunteer driving coaches & instructors. David Vodden, CEO of Thunderhill. It toook an effort by all of these people to make this happen. We are looking to do this again next year, same time, same place!

Here are a couple of the group photos taken by Dito Milain of gotbluemilk.com
