Chris... I would give Jeff Johnston a call at BMW SF.. one of the best ways to actually reach him is by email: jjohnston@bmwsf.com He's a buddy of mine and is committed to ever customer getting the best possible service.. You can tell him that I suggested you speak with him, too and ask for his advice.

I ordered a hardtop MCS 2008 on Dec. 3, 2007 from SF MINI with a $1000 deposit. Monday, Feb. 4 I was called by the salesman and told my car was in, come on down and check it out. Looking over the Mini, I noticed the car had a pano roof---not a hardtop like I had specified. Indeed, a mistake had been made in the order and I would have to wait another two months or so for the right car to be reordered and delivered. I was supposed to get a call the next day, Feb.5 with the details and that yes, a new car had been ordered. I'm still waiting for the call back. Now I'm a bit confused after reading all the posts about SF MINI...maybe I should go somewhere else? P.S. I have lots of other questions about the Mini; but its a bit premature now. Luckily, my 72 Chevy Streetrod pickup is purring like a kitten!! My husband Eric and I find the forum informative and are looking forward to becoming active members of the Mini community when my ride finally arrives.

Hi Janis,

I would not be overly concerned with buying from MINI of SF. their staff has completely changed since my unfortunate dealings with them. Base your decisions on more recent posts than mine.

That being said, I would consider using East Bay MINI, MINI of Mountain View, or Niello MINI for service if you get any negative treatment from MINI of SF.

Haven't heard anything from SF MINI regarding club discounts... don't assume that you'll get one, but it is worth asking if you use SF MINI fior service and/or parts & swag.

Does anyone have any recent experience with SF MINI? I go to East Bay MINI these days but a friend who lives in the City is considering checking out a MINI. I'd like to hear anything current before saying to not go there. Do they still have the markup, when I bought mine in 07 they were the only ones that still did that.

TIA

Hi Emily, I went to East Bay Mini when I bought mine in 06' because they didn't charge any markup. I only had Mini of S.F work on mine once. It was for an oil change and I knew the service dept. manager, Kat. She no longer works there and I haven't been back since. When I was there that one time, she noticed that my motor mount was leaking fluid, so she had that replaced also. I was only there for less than a hour.. I no longer go to any dealers for service.

Perhaps its because my 08 Mini is still under warranty/extended service plan that I use SF MINI and haven't been incented to look outside the dealership service dept for work...

I find Steve Carrabis (SF MINI service advisor) very helpful. He has told me in the past that due the incredible demand for MINIs here in San Francisco, the local dealership was able to get away with the markup, and still may. I know that you'll pay a premium for a convertible, here.

I bought Swordfish remotely from Crevier MINI in Santa Ana - flew down and drove back.

Cheers
Frank
